WHAT TO EXPECT
The Henry David Thoreau Sangha (“Hank”) meets every Monday night in Newton at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Meetings always include Zen meditation (zazen) and Zen liturgy. Sometimes there will also be dharma talks (lectures/discussions), opportunities for individual meetings with a teacher (dokusan) as well as other special events. Check the calendar. You are invited to attend all or any portion of the activities—whatever works for your schedule and inclination. We sit 25-minute periods, and do a few minutes of walking meditation (kinhin) between periods. The evening starts formally …

On March 20th Henry David Thoreau Sangha will be hosting Dosho Port, a Zen priest and dharma heir of Dainin Katagiri-roshi in the Soto Zen Tradition. Join us for this full day workshop (8:30 am - 5:00 pm). It is a unique opportunity to engage with one of Zen’s well known teachers and writers. $25 suggested donation. Bring a brown bag lunch.
